Point Reyes National Seashore Closed Due To Fire

Point Reyes Station, CA – Point Reyes National Seashore is closed until further notice. This closure is in effect due to the Woodward Fire that started the afternoon of Tuesday, August 18. The fire was caused by lightning, and is now estimated to be 2,259 acres in size.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are suspending park operations until further notice," says Carey Feierabend, Acting Superintendent of Point Reyes National Seashore. "This park closure will allow for the safety of our fire fighters, and to allow for safe travel in the event of a mandatory evacuation."

All park roads and trails are closed. Campground operations are suspended as well. This includes hike-in campgrounds, and boat-in camgrounds in Tomales Bay.

The health and safety of firefighters and the public are always the first priority. Firefighters are conducting operations under protocols to mitigate the risk of COVID-19. For updated park information, visit www.nps.gov/pore.
