National Park Service to Host Community Workshops for the Ranch Comprehensive Management Plan

Point Reyes Station – Point Reyes National Seashore (PRNS) will host two community workshops for the Ranch Comprehensive Management Plan/Environmental Assessment on November 20 and 21. The meetings will provide an update on the Ranch Comprehensive Management Plan (Ranch CMP) and solicit further thought and discussion from the public. The first workshop will focus on ranching practices including pasture management, diversification, and succession, while the second workshop will address tule elk affecting ranch operations in the park. The two workshops will include presentations by PRNS, followed by facilitated breakout groups and discussions. The meetings are scheduled at the following location and times:

For those unable to attend the meetings or who wish to submit additional comments, the National Park Service (NPS) will have a comment period from November 17 to November 26. Comments may be submitted online or by letter. To submit comments via the internet, go to the NPS Planning, Environment and Public Comment site at https://parkplanning.nps.gov/ranchcmp. Select the "Open for Comment" link. Written comments may be mailed or hand delivered to:

In accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act, the NPS is developing a Ranch Comprehensive Management Plan to establish a comprehensive framework for the management of existing ranch lands administered by Point Reyes National Seashore under agricultural lease/special use permits, with terms up to 20 years. A final document is expected in late 2015. Additional information on the Ranch CMP can be found at the park web site: www.nps.gov/pore.
