Description
81 years ago, American forces fought their largest and costliest battle of World War II in the Ardennes Forest of Belgium. General Eisenhower would later note that this winter fighting was "a soldiers' war". Ultimately, one out of every ten American casualties in World War II fell during the Battle of the Bulge in December 1944 and January 1945.
On December 13, at 3 pm, join Eisenhower National Historic Site for a free ranger-guided walking tour of Gettysburg National Cemetery, visiting the graves of Battle of the Bulge casualties who were buried in Gettysburg after World War II. Discover the stories of those who, in General Eisenhower's words, "endure[d] greatly in their country's cause" in the cold winter of 1944 and 1945.
This program will meet at the Taneytown Rd entrance to Gettysburg National Cemetery, Stop 16 on the Gettysburg National Military Park Auto Tour.
