Description

Antietam National Battlefield

Every Kid Outdoors Day

Saturday, November 16, 2019

10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Presented in partnership with Girl Scout Troop #40726, Boy Scout Troop # 91, and the National Museum of Civil War Medicine.

Join us Saturday, November 16th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. for a day of fun activities. Park staff and volunteers will be stationed around the battlefield in activity tents.  You will be able to meet a Civil War Soldier, complete Junior Ranger activities, use Civil War signal flags to send messages, learn about Civil War medicine and the Leave No Trace principles.

The park will provide trail maps. Four separate trails (West Woods, Cornfield, Mumma-Roulette, and Blood Lane trails) will be highlighted.  You can hike one or all of them.  Hiked in their entirety, these trails provide 5.5 miles of hiking that scouts can use towards their hiking patch.  Activities also count towards the Scout Ranger and Girl Scout Ranger patch.

All ages are welcome to take part and you do not need to be affiliated with a scout group to attend.

For more information, please contact Park Ranger Christie Stanczak at e-mail us.  Scout leaders can also contact Scout Leader Erica Parello at scoutleader.parello@gmail.com for more information.
