Stanton Park Celebrates America’s 250th
Stanton Park invites neighbors and visitors to join a festive community celebration marking America’s 250th on June 20, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. This family‑friendly picnic day brings history, play, and community together beneath the park’s iconic canopy of trees. Visitors are encouraged to pack a picnic blanket and lunch and enjoy a full day of activities that highlight the stories and spirit of the Revolutionary era.
Throughout the event, guests can explore Revolutionary War living history, try historic lawn games, enjoy Junior Ranger activities, and meet interpreters and staff sharing the park’s history and connections to the early nation. Historic walking tours led by the Capitol Hill Restoration Society will also be offered, with times to be announced.
A highlight of the day is the unveiling of the newly restored Nathanael Greene statue, taking place from 11:15 AM to 12:30 PM. The ceremony will feature remarks from NACE Superintendent Serena Bellew, DC Councilmember Charles Allen, and Park Ranger Vince Vaise as the community celebrates the renewed tribute to one of the Revolutionary War’s most significant leaders.
