Description

Every fall Nez Perce people and others return to the battlefield to commemorate the final battle of the Flight of 1877 and to honor those involved in a moving memorial service. Everyone is invited to attend and there is no admission fee.

The ceremony begins at 10am on the lawn in the upper parking lot, and is usually finished by lunch. Events usually include a pipe ceremony and drum circle (NO PHOTOS PLEASE).

On-site facilities are limited to a small picnic shelter and vault toilets. Layered warm clothing is advised and everyone is encouraged to bring their own chairs.

Please contact the park at least 5 days in advance of the commemoration to request a sign language interpreter, assisted listening devices, or other special requests.

Directions to the battlefield and information about nearby ammenities can be found on the Bear Paw Battlefield's web page.
