The Human History Museum is only open from spring to fall. Check the current hours of operation before visiting.
Once the park’s main visitor center, this museum houses indoor exhibits focused on the human history of Zion. Rotating exhibits feature regional artists, local discoveries, and more. A 22-minute orientation film examines the history of the canyon and highlights the dramatic landscapes of the park. The Zion Forever Project bookstore sells park-related merchandise.
Rangers staff an information desk during operating hours. Ranger-led programs are offered seasonally.
Outside the museum, this location offers incredible views of the surrounding canyon. The back patio has an accessible viewing area for West Temple and the Towers of the Virgin. In front of the building, there are views of Bridge Mountain and Crawford Arch.
Shuttle Service
The Human History Museum is adjacent to Shuttle Stop #2. When shuttles are in service, they stop here on the way down-canyon. From the museum, you can ride a shuttle to Shuttle Stop #1, the Zion Canyon Visitor Center. Up-canyon shuttles depart from Stop #1.
While parking is limited, you can also drive your vehicle to the museum. This is an accessible location for sunrise, sunset, and stargazing.
Connecting Trails
The Pa'rus Trail connects to the museum parking lot near the restroom building. This trail allows bicycles and pets, with multiple connections to the Virgin River. The Pa'rus Trail also connects the museum to Zion Canyon Visitor Center, Zion Nature Center, and Canyon Junction.
Be aware that the connector trail is not considered accessible for individuals with disabilities, due to the presence of stairs. For easier access to the Pa'rus Trail, ride the park shuttle to Stop #1 (Zion Canyon Visitor Center) and start the trail from there.
