Built in 1932, the Log House Tea Room and Lodge was designed to provide refreshments and lodging for park visitors. The Wakefield National Memorial Association chose the location due to oral tradition that a colonial era log house had once stood on those grounds.
Unfortunately, the Association had misjudged the Log House's business potential. Even early on it was evident that the Log House could not generate enough revenue to cover its expenses. As the park was not a final destination for most visitors, they did not stay the night.
Financial losses led the Association to close the Log House. Today, it is used as a meeting and conference space.
