Now known as the oil house, this building was used to dispense carbide for miner's lamps. Carbide, when mixed with water, would emit a burnable gas. This would be the most advanced personal lighting ever in use at Quincy. This building is a single story made from red and white Jacobsville sandstone. Brick arch detail can be seen over the entrance door. Recent stabilization includes a new roof and tuckpointing, ensuring building stability.
