As you walk out of the kitchen, continue straight and you will arrive at the parlor room. In this room you see an inviting wood burning fireplace, a wooden desk, and a long backless sofa. Captain Israel would do work at the wooden desk, like writing correspondence to the United States Lighthouse Board. Mrs. Israel used the same room to knit and create crafts with small shells collected by the children. Some of her original work is displayed on the walls of the parlor. She adorned picture frames with shells, chiton, and fragments of abalone. You can see these above the fireplace and on the far wall adjacent to the sofa. Children were not allowed in this room. The parlor was reserved for receiving and entertaining guests, it was not considered a family space.
