Monument Description

This monument, donated by the Valley Forge Park Commission under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1908, marks the location of the encampent of Maxwell's Brigade. Maxwell's Brigade, which was part of Sullivan's Division, consisted solely of New Jersey regiments. With Lachlan McIntosh's Brigade, also of Sullivan's Division, Maxwell was deployed as the defense along the linear works on the eastern face of Mount Joy.
