Audio Description, Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits

Built in 1850 out of stone, the post magazine safely stored ammunition for the post. This would include small arms munitions for muskets and pistols as well as munitions for artillery. While Fort Laramie never hosted a designated artillery unit for more than a short duration, soldiers were drilled in the use of the 12 pound Mountain Howitzers that were often used during the Northern Plains Indian wars.
