Interpretive signs introduce the idea of "wilderness". As you head to the western side of Jenny Lake, the developed front country area slips away into an undeveloped, primitive world.

It was here in Grand Teton National Park where Margaret (Mardy) and Olaus Murie, along with Wilderness Society member Howard Zahniser, crafted the language that would become the basis for the Wilderness Act.

Take some time to read these panels and ponder what wilderness means to you.
