Monument Description

This monument, donated by the Valley Forge Park Commission under the jurisdiction of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1908, marks the location of the encampment of Huntington's Brigade. Jedediah Huntington was one of the more dedicated generals during this period, but he was away from Valley Forge during April of 1778. General Huntington with his four Connecticut Regiments, and Varnum with his two Connecticut Regiments, plus the first and second Rhode Island Regiments shared the responsibility of defending the flank of the camp along the Schuylkill River.
