Franklin Lake is inhabited by a forest of bald cypress trees, many of which are draped with Spanish moss.

The lake lies in the bottomlands near the Neches River. An unpaved boat launch provides access for kayaks, canoes, and small boats.

From Silsbee, head north on FM 92 until you reach Cravens Camp Road, then turn right. Follow Cravens Camp Road until you reach unpaved Franklin Lake Road, then turn left. Franklin Lake lies at the end of the road; look for trees marked with yellow paint. Road signs may be missing or not visible.
