Across the Ohio River from Louisville, KY, you can view one of the largest Devonian fossil beds in the world preserved at Falls of the Ohio State Park. The park is nestled within a 1,404-acre National Wildlife Conservation Area and offers both indoor and outdoor exhibits related to the cultural and natural history of the region.

In October of 1803, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark met in Clarksville, IN, the home of William's brother, George Rogers Clark. While staying at George Clark's cabin, Lewis and Clark recruited men from the surrounding area for the Corps of Discovery, known as the Nine Young Men from Kentucky.

Visitor info:

There is an interpretive center overlooking the fossil beds that features immersive exhibits and naturalist programs.

The George Rogers Clark Home Site is part of Falls of the Ohio State Park.
Please Note: The cabin burned down in 2021, however the site remains open to the public.

Those wanting to stretch their legs will enjoy walking or biking the Ohio River Greenway, which allows for a closer look at the fossil beds.
