Location Description
Picnic Grove 6 is located along Beach Drive NW north of the intersection with Joyce Rd. NW. There is a single story brick pavilion that can be reserved. The ground is relatively flat with many trees scattered throughout the area. Other picnic tables are scattered along the banks of the creek. These can not be moved. At the far side of the picnic area is the historic Joaquin Miller Cabin. Only the exterior of the cabin is accessible. A narrow, paved trail runs past the parking area and along the road-side edge of the picnic area. The paved pathway provides a safe and accessible way for cyclists and pedestrians to access Beach Drive to the south or to go north towards Milk House Ford.

Yes- Public restrooms are located to the north of the picnic area and across Beach Drive.
Parking
Yes- There is a large parking area that is available for all visitors. It can not be blocked off or reserved.
Reservations and Permits
This site (meaning the picnic pavilion) is reservable in advance from April through November and available on a first-come, first-served basis from December through March.
To make a reservation, please go to the website www.recreation.gov and search for "Rock Creek Group Picnic Areas." You can also make reservations by phone at 1-877-444-6777 (10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET).
Reservations are by the half day. A half day is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (or dark whichever comes first).
