Location Description

Picnic Grove 13 is located along Glover Road NW near Military Road NW. There is a picnic pavilion and a small stone grill or chimney associated with the site. There is an open, grassy area next to the pavilion but the site is otherwise surrounded by trees. On the opposite side of the parking area from the picnic pavilion there is a grassy area. An un-mowed meadow sits next to the mowed area. The Western Ridge Trail crosses through this picnic area.

Restrooms

No. The closest public restrooms are located within the Rock Creek Park Nature Center and Planetarium. They are only open during operating hours of the Nature Center.

Parking

Yes- There is a large parking area next to the picnic area.

Reservations and Permits

This site is reservable in advance from April through November and available on a first-come, first-served basis from December through March.

To make a reservation, please go to the website www.recreation.gov and search for "Rock Creek Group Picnic Areas." You can also make reservations by phone at 1-877-444-6777 (10:00 a.m. - 10:00 p.m. ET).

Reservations are by the half day. A half day is from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. (or dark whichever comes first).
