Blue Ridge Heritage Project Monument - Albemarle

Historical/Interpretive Information/Exhibits
The Blue Ridge Heritage Project is a non-profit organization whose mission is to build monuments to honor the people who were displaced by the creation of Shenandoah National Park. Eight counties from which mountain residents were relocated have monuments: Madison, Page, Rockingham, Greene, Rappahannock, Albemarle, Warren, and Augusta. Most of the monument sites include exhibits about the families. We invite you to visit these gateway communities and the beautiful monuments and learn about the people who sacrificed their homes for the establishment of Shenandoah. You can also learn more about this story at Byrd Visitor Center (mile 51).
The Albemarle County Blue Ridge Heritage Project Monument is located at Patricia Ann Byrom Forest Preserve Park, 6610 Blackwells Hollow Road (Rt. 810), Crozet, VA 22932
The Albemarle monument is located at the far end of the upper parking lot. Restrooms are available at the nearby lower parking area, and a small picnic shelter is available near the monument.
