This museum explains the factors leading up to the 1862 Battle of Harpers Ferry, the battle itself, and its aftermath and impact. The battle was fought September 12-15, 1862 as part of General Robert E. Lee's Maryland Campaign–the Confederate Army's first invasion of the Union during the Civil War. Despite the surrender of federal troops, this battle had great significance. Visit the museum to learn more about what occurred.
Accessibility
The entrance to the museum is on High Street. There are two steps up to the front porch and one more step up to the door. There is no alternative entrance without steps. Inside, there are two rooms of exhibits with wood floors.Learn more about accessibility in the park.
