Volunteer at Pinnacles National Park

Volunteering is a meaningful way to support Pinnacles National Park while experiencing one of the nation’s most breathtaking landscapes. Volunteer opportunities include habitat restoration, condor monitoring, trail work, assisting at the nature center, artist residencies, vegetation management, and more.

If you’re interested in volunteering but don’t see a suitable position listed, please feel free to contact us here. Note that we are currently short on staff to fully support volunteering programs, so responses may be delayed, and availability is limited. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Long-Term Volunteering

Pinnacles is fortunate to have a dedicated group of long-term volunteers who support various park offices. Some ongoing opportunities include:

  • Preventative Search & Rescue: Hike trails, assist visitors with directions, provide water and educational information, and offer basic first aid.
  • Vegetation & Restoration: Remove invasive plants, survey remote backcountry areas, collect seeds, and restore habitats.
  • Condor Monitoring: Assist with monitoring and testing procedures for the park’s condor population.
  • Trail Maintenance: Clear overgrowth, maintain disability-access trails, perform rock work in caves, and monitor the pig fence.
  • Interpretation & Education: Lead educational programs for school groups, engage with visitors on trails, and staff the Nature Center.
  • Night Skies Program: Support Star Gazer Parties and assess light pollution levels.
