United Catalysts New work from the Petrified Forest National Park Artist Residency Painted Desert Inn National Historic Landmark, Petrified Forest National Park Postcards from the Iron Camera, the new series by artist team United Catalysts is inspired by their tenure as October 2013 Artists in Residence at Petrified Forest National Park. During their two-week stay, artists Kim Garrison and Steve Radosevich captured the landscape with a hand-built cast iron camera. The prints were developed using a combination of traditional darkroom techniques and digital editing, then colored with watercolor, ink and pencil. The resulting imagery is as surreal as the park itself—a combination of photography, drawing, painting and collage, depicting a landscape of fantasy and mystery that is the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest. |
