NPS Goes on a Road Trip at Gilbert Library Roundtable
April 13, 2017
We were honored to present at the latest Recreation and Library Roundtable, sponsored by the Arizona Parks and Recreation Association at the Gilbert Southeast Regional Library. The event brings professionals together to talk about successful partnerships between the fields of recreation and libraries. Krystina Isaac, Montezuma Castle National Monument, and Jen Smith, Tonto National Monument, presented a “road trip” through Arizona’s 22 national park service sites. Without leaving their seats, those present were transported to awe-inspiring cultural and natural wonders. And learned how libraries can partner with each of the sites.
Put together as a collaboration by the new Southern Arizona NPS Interpretive Team, many hands played a part in the presentation. Information was gathered by Isaac along with Sharlot Hart, Southern Arizona Office, and the presentation itself was put together by Hilary Clark, Tonto National Monument.
Twenty-seven librarians and parks and recreation people attended the meeting. The visit timed well to promote Arizona’s NPS recreational and historical resources for National Park Week.
