    The National Park Service (NPS) announces a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) open to individuals, educational institutions, government agencies or entities, non-profit, or for-profit organizations interested in the preservation and re-use of one or more facilities at Kettle Falls. The RFEI allows interested parties an opportunity to review the property, facilities, park area, and to submit their idea(s) of potential future use of the facilities.

    Starting April 16, 2025, Isle Royale National Park requires all overnight visitors to use approved animal-resistant containers for food and scented items. Food storage lockers will be installed at campgrounds throughout the season. These regulations aim to protect wildlife and visitor safety.

    Fort Scott National Historic Site is hosting its Annual Civil War Encampment, April 12 and 13, 2025. Join us each day to experience cavalry and infantry troops drilling, preparing for battle, and sharing stories of life during the Civil War. Talk to a blacksmith as he brings raw metal to life with his hammer, learn the process of crafting lead musket balls, and speak with volunteers portraying some of the women who provided support to the troops and operations during the Civil War.

    Voyageurs National Park staff announce that reservations for ranger-led boat tours and North Canoe Voyage programs open at 9:00 am CST on April 15 for the 2025 season.

    The National Park Service Ice Age National Scenic Trail is planning to conduct three prescribed fires, weather and conditions dependent, between April 6 – April 30, 2025, totaling approximately 93 acres near Cross Plains.
