Since 1916, the National Park Service (NPS) has been entrusted with the care of the special places saved by the American people. With the help of our employees, volunteers, and partners, we safeguard these special places and share their stories with more than 297 million visitors every year. The Park Planning, Facilities & Lands (PPFL) directorate is one of seven NPS directorates under the Deputy Director of Operations. The PPFL mission is to provide the NPS with leadership, policy development, program accountability and budget formulation for planning, design, & construction, and park facility & land management.

The variety of work PPFL tackles is spread across the following six divisions: Denver Service Center (DSC), Environmental Compliance and Cleanup Division (ECCD), Land Resources Division (LRD), Major Construction Division (MCD), Park Facility Management Division (PFMD) including the Historic Preservation Training Center (HPTC), and the Park Planning and Special Studies (PPSS) Division. See the following infographic for details about the work taking place in each PPFL division.

Maintaining the national parks and helping Americans take care of their communities is integral to PPFL’s work. If this sparks your interest, bring your passion for national parks and heritage preservation to our team of high-energy professionals who focus on policy development, park facility & land management, and planning, design, & construction program management & execution.
