Historic Preservation Fund (HPF) in Action

The State, Tribal, Local, Plans & Grants (STLPG) division manages several grant programs to assist with a variety of historic preservation and community projects focused on heritage preservation. These grants are funded by the Historic Preservation Fund (HPF), a matching grant program established in 1977 to assist in State and Tribal Historic Preservation Offices in their efforts to protect and preserve their historical resources. Gateway to Certified Local Governments

An ESRIā„¢ Web Application

The Gateway to Certified Local Governments Web Application is a tool designed to facilitate resource management conversations by showing the connections among local governments, federal lands, and historic resources. As Certified Local Governments (CLGs) undertake historic preservation projects, partnering with park staff and leadership can offer opportunities to preserve and highlight special places and stories of American history together.

To help users become familiar with the application, STLPG has provided an Instructions Page (PDF 317kB) and a short video tutorial. STLPG has created a one-page fact sheet (PDF 888kB) for use as a promotional tool as well.
By showing these connections, the Gateway to Certified Local Governments Application serves to facilitate conversation. As CLGs undertake historic preservation projects, partnerships and coordination with park staff and leadership offer joint opportunities to preserve and highlight the special places and stories of American history.
