Management

Our Mission

The National Trails office collaborates with partners to provide leadership and coordination in the planning, protection, development, and interpretation of our national historic trails and Route 66 for public use and benefit.

Our Vision

Our vision is to engage dedicated partners and communities in nurturing a broader understanding of the historic trails, so that the stories of all peoples who were connected to them might be known and respected; in improving access to the trails, so that they might be more widely experienced and appreciated; and in conveying the significance of the trails, so that they might be more greatly cherished and protected.
