Our Mission: Guiding the present, framing the future. Public service with integrity.

The National Park Service Division of Fire and Aviation Management (DFAM) is dedicated to leadership, collaboration, and mitigating risk to help ensure the safety of our employees and the public we serve.

DFAM activities cross disciplines and support critical missions within the National Park Service. The division contributes to virtually every aspect of protection and preservation of National Park Service cultural and natural resources through wildland and structural fire management, with aviation supporting visitor and resource protection, search and rescue operations, law enforcement operations, natural and cultural resources, and personnel transportation.

The national headquarters for the division is co-located with other federal agencies at the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho. Learn more about what we do and how the Division of Fire and Aviation Management is integral to meeting the mission of the National Park Service.
