A dugout used by Nicodemus settlers located west of Stockton, Kansas

The history of Nicodemus goes far beyond that borders of the park. Northwestern Kansas is home to other historic sites are connected to Nicodemus. Places such Hill City, Stockton, Hays, and Wakeeney, Kansas are also part of the greater Nicodemus story.

Nicodemus Dugout

The Nicodemus dugout (shown left) was created by Nicodemus homesteaders when traveling to and from the nearby town of Stockton, Kansas. It is located 16 miles east of Nicodemus on the north side of Highway 24 between mile markers 149 and 150. The dugout is located on private land.

Nicodemus Cemetery

Located a mile northeast of the townsite, the Nicodemus Cemetery is one of the the first cemeteries created in Graham County with many of the first settlers and founders of the town buried there. Country dirt roads to access the Nicodemus Cemetery may be hazardous based on your personal vehicle and weather conditions.

Mount Olive Cemetery

Located 5 miles northwest of Nicodemus, the Mount Olive Cemetery was used by many black homesteaders farming north of town. Country dirt roads to access the cemetery may be hazardous based on your personal vehicle and weather conditions.
