Nez Perce National Historical Park is a non-traditional national park in that it consists of 38 sites, which together tell the story of the nimíipuu (Nez Perce). These sites are spread over much of the traditional homeland of the nimíipuu in present-day Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. Staff are located at the visitor center in Lapwai, ID, at the Big Hole National Battlefield near Wisdom, Montana, and at the Bear Paw Battlefield near Chinook, Montana. To visit all of the park sites could take a substantial amount of time and cover many hundreds of miles.
