Notice to Public: Aerobatic Box Closure for Salute to America

Notice to the Public

Pursuant to 36 CFR § 1.5, the National Park Service is imposing a temporary closure for certain designated portions of the National Mall and Memorial Parks for the necessary purpose of life safety and emergency response.

The National Park Service, in coordination with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the United States Park Police (USPP), will close the below listed areas of the National Mall and Memorial Parks to public access on Friday, July 3, 2026, beginning at 8:00 a.m. and continuing until approximately 1:00 p.m. when the flight operations for military safety verification checks have concluded. Closures will be lifted as soon as they are no longer necessary, restoring access to the public as soon as practicable. Violation is prohibited.

  • Lincoln Memorial South: Lincoln Memorial Bookstore, gift shop, and refreshments
  • Public Restrooms south of Lincoln Memorial
  • U.S. Park Police Stables
  • District of Columbia War Memorial
  • Public Restrooms: World War II Memorial on Independence Avenue
  • John Paul Jones Memorial
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial
  • West Potomac Park
  • John Ericsson Memorial
  • Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial
  • Tidal Basin pedestrian trails west of Kutz Bridge and Inlet Bridge

  • Independence Avenue, SW from Maine Avenue SW to Ohio Drive
  • Maine Avenue SW between Independence Avenue and the intersection with Raoul
  • Wallenberge Place SW
  • Homefront Drive SW
  • 23rd Street SW, south of Lincoln Memorial Circle NW
  • West Basin Drive SW
  • Daniel French Drive SW
  • Ohio Drive, SW between E Street and the east side of Inlet Bridge
