Basket The basket was the most significant prehistoric artifact recovered during an archeological survey of the monument (1981-1987). The basket was found in situ in a dry, protected environment (earth crack). There are design elements of checkered diamonds at four intervals around the widest part of the body, which may have been made of splits of devil's claw. The rods are probably of Apache plume, and the design elements (black-colored materials) are feathers. Greater Diameter: 49.5cm ca. 1200 (Pueblo III) Wupatki National Monument, WUPA 2432 |
