The Black-Chinned Hummingbird (Archilochus alexandri ) is the most common hummingbird found in Zion National Park. However, on rare occasions, several other species of hummingbirds may be found in the park. The Broad-Tailed Hummingbird (Selasphorus platycercus ) also breeds in Zion. This nest was built on a tree branch by a female using spiderwebs and other plant fibers. The exterior is covered with lichen and moss to provide camouflage.
