Bullock’s Orioles are common in riparian woodlands. They are often found in cottonwood trees along the Virgin River in the park. Adult males have distinctive bright orange feathers with bold black wings and a stripe across the eyes. Juvenile males resemble females with yellow and gray-white feathers and a faint eye stripe. Both adults and juveniles also have a black throat patch. Both parents feed their young. Orioles forage for insects in trees and shrubs and are known to catch insects midair.
