McGill Ticket Punch Company
1940 – 1960
Ticket punching began in the 1860s. Ticket punches had different die designs to identify individual trainmen. This example is a conductor’s punch letter “L” die. Conductors used the punch to track tickets they checked. Railroad revenue accounting departments used the punch mark as evidence in case of employee misconduct.
