Scranton, PA
Delaware, Lackawanna, and Western Railroad Company
September 13, 1917
Early roundhouses were made of wood, which could easily catch fire from a stray spark emitted by a locomotive. After being consumed by fire in 1917, the Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad rebuilt this roundhouse with brick to prevent future complete structural loss.
