Trap

In the early 1930s around 150 families lived on the land that would become the Chopawamsic Recreational Demonstration Area and later Prince William Forest Park. Most lived in meager dwellings and maintained agrarian lifestyles. At least one or two members of some families had to work somewhere else like the pyrite mine or Quantico. According to oral histories, one of the ways past residents made ends meet was by hunting raccoons and beavers. This iron trap would have served that purpose well. Locals also took up beekeeping and moonshining.
