Drum
c 1900-1950
This frame drum is used to accompany songs either from groups of individual singers. Often, several drums are played together to accompany multiple singers. The frame of this drum is made from part of a metal container and the head is stretched over the frame and tied with rawhide lacing. A fringed ‘skirt’ of buckskin has
been tied at the midpoint of the rim. Both the skirt and the
head exhibit evidence of having been painted.
