Hat
Made by Ida Blackeagle
1974
Blackeagle made this twined hat while working as a cultural demonstrator at Nez Perce National Historical Park. It was one of three she created for the Park in her efforts to revive a vanishing tradition. Prior to the era of Euro-American trade, beargrass (Xerophyllum tenax) or Indian hemp (Apocynum cannabinum) were used for design elements.
