Gloves
c 1915-1920
These beaded gloves or gauntlets exhibit the colorful floral beadwork designs that came into fashion beginning in the 1860s. Gauntlets became popular near the end of the 19th century and very fashionable during the first decades of the 20th century. They are made of buckskin and decorated with glass beads. Usually the cuff was fully beaded and there were several patterns used, including ones where the middle finger or index finger was attached separately.
