Photograph Album
1850-1865
Collecting small photographs (called carte-de-visites) of famous people was very popular in the mid-1800s. The Lincolns had several albums. A family legend suggests that Abraham Lincoln gave Mary Todd an album before they were married. It probably looked similar to this small, thick book.
