Godfrey N. Frankenstein
1849
In a letter to Frankenstein on April 14, 1851, Charles Francis Adams wrote, "Your pictures arrived safely some days since but saddled with rather more cost of transportation than was prudent. We like them very well. You have made as much of the old houses as you could; no artist would take hold of them as a picturesque subject, but I wished them done for a very different reason. I enclose in order to pay for them, the sum of a hundred and thirty-five dollars..."
