The movie set for the Arizona Territorial Prison in There Was a Crooked Man took seven weeks to build. It was unusual in that it was built with complete buildings, rather than simply false fronts. The added structures accommodated filming of an escape scene from a higher-than-normal angle. Fortunately for the actors and crew, filming ended just as the heat of summer began. The entire set was dismantled and removed from the site by the production crew.
