Despite living in a remote, fairly isolated location, the Keys family did everything they could to create a comfortable home. From its origins as a single room in 1912, the Keys family house expanded as Bill and Frances Keys married and had children. Willis Keys, the oldest, remembered helping his mother hang wallpaper, and recounted that despite the use of area rugs, the children’s constant foot traffic wore through several layers of linoleum.
