This book was inscribed by Margaretta S. Ridgely (1869-1949) who may have acquired it in London as a child during her family’s visit in 1870.  However, it may have first been owned by her mother Margaretta Howard Ridgely (1824-1904). The book can be dated by the style of the fashions in the charming illustrations.
