Baltimore; Cariss & Schultz
The leading manufacturers of looking glasses and other fancy goods in Baltimore, Cariss & Schultz made the first of several orders of stag’s head “curtain bands” for Hampton in the summer of 1845. The cast bronze tiebacks were gilt and lacquered. They were originally ordered by Eliza Ridgely (1803-1867) for use in the Drawing Room and Music Room.
