Rococo Revival Style, 1830-1860
England
Possibly made in Staffordshire, this specialized dish was made to hold a large wheel of cheese. Dairy herds and products were an important part of life at Hampton from the 1790s to the 1940s. The fanciful “willow pattern,” first developed in England in the late eighteenth century, was inspired by imported Chinese blue and white porcelains.
