Sewing Kit Sewing was important to Augusta Kohrs from her days as a pioneer bride in the rugged early days, to her later years as the mistress of an elegant Victorian mansion. Her grandson reported that even in her eighties, she was up at 5:30am to work on mending and other domestic chores. Augusta stored her tools of the trade in this sewing basket. It bears her initials inside the lid. During World War I, Augusta knitted hundreds of wool caps for the Red Cross to send to soldiers overseas. Sewing Basket c1900 Reed, corduroy.
