IntroductionThis showy plant grows well in dry, mesic, or wet conditions. It is a very attractive plant that blooms for a good part of the summer. It grows to be 3 to 5 feet and has a yellow flower with a dark gray center. Yellow coneflowers are common in prairies, but are early successional plants, which means they often do well in disturbances, such as the trampling hooves of bison, but are slowly out-competed by grasses and may slowly disappear from plantings.
Blooms: June through August Find ItLook for this plant around edges and in recently restored prairies and savannas.
