Introduction

June grass is usually found in dry prairies where it can compete with other grasses and plants. It often grows only one to two feet tall but has a dense, silver-green, and attractive seed head. It is one of the earlier blooming native prairie grasses, hence its name "Junegrass." In some northern prairies, it can become one of the dominant grasses.
